Background
J.D Sanders was raised in New York where he was one of the top basketball recruits in the state. He attended Texas Tech University on a basketball scholarship, where he studied topics highlighted children's and families realtionship from different perspectives. This interest J.D carried with him throughout his time as a basketball player.
Career / Experience
J.D. Sanders' career in professional basketball took him from the U.S.A. to Asia, the Middle East and Europe, with championship teams in Spain and Sweden. All together J.D played as a professional basketball player for over 16 years. Since his retirement. he has worked as a certified educational counselor at an international school in Stockholm, Sweden. In his spare time, he has also worked as a coach and mentor for aspiring athletes.
Off the court
Although he is private off the court, J.D continues to inspire and engage young athletes. He is actively involved in the Swedish Basketball Federation where he coaches two National Youth Basketball teams. He also works with numerous basketball camps and outreach programs, developing some of the top talent in Sweden. His lectures cover a range of issues to prepare young athletes for life, such as:
